If you need a little help getting started when you go to Open Lab, here are a few tips/hints to help you out:

We use Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 12.55.08 PM“Google Chrome” in class, so the kids will be familiar with that browser.  I find that it is pretty reliable and easier to use.

This is a “Symbaloo Mix”  It has visual buttons for each link we use in the lab.  I will add more links and Symbaloo mixes as we continue in the school year.

There are grade specific collections of online activities.   (For example, to get to the first grade collection:  “first grade free choice”: HOVER over “students”, then HOVER over “first grade”… You will see the tab to the right that says, “First Free Choice” – click on that!   ** *

TROUBLESHOOTING

    • There are sometimes some connection errors.  Here are some troubleshooting tips:
      • If you get a white screen, click the Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 12.48.05 PM to reload.  This is great for sites that freeze up as well!
      • If you are trying to find our technology website Click the Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 12.48.11 PM and it will take you to the student page on elementarytech.net

Thank you SO much for having your students wash their hands before coming to the lab 🙂  I also have a special request to keep all PENCILS out of the labs.  I had “fun” cleaning pencil leads and shavings out of the keyboards this summer.  I have ink pens in the lab if you need them for student projects.  Just let me know 🙂

I love questions, suggestions, etc. so please feel free to use my “contact me” page under the teacher category!
